Many years earlier, I led the charge to open Manhattan’s first coworking space, New Work City. New Work City was home to countless meetup groups and community programs, acting as a social hub for folks who might otherwise be stuck at home.
Along the way, I got to see the coworking movement grow from just a few dozen people in a Google Group to a household word that’s changed the world’s relationship with work forever.
Having a front row seat to seeing an open-source idea like coworking spread around the world has kept me dreaming for years about what it would look like for more self-organized community movements to emerge in a similar way.
Join Something is an experiment in making that dream a reality.Â
Eric Skiff and Dave Renz, founders of Tanooki Labs, are the masterminds behind the engine that powers Join Something. They've developed tools that make it easy for a terrible coder like me to build and deploy a real, working software platform. They're great technical and business advisors, and fab dudes.
